1. PAN/TAN

A Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a unique ten-digit alphanumeric number issued to all taxpayers and non-taxpayers by Income Tax (IT) department to companies, firms, and individuals (both Indian and foreign nationals). Tax collection and account number (TAN) is a ten-digit alphanumeric number necessary for all individuals and companies (government and non-government) to collect and deduct taxes under sec.203A of the IT Act 1961

3. Professional-Tax

Professional tax (PT) is a state-oriented tax applicable to professionals and businesses engaged in professions like doctors, lawyers, accountants, engineers, etc. In Pune, PT consists of two parts :-
1. Professional Tax Registration Certificate (PTRC) is for employers who deduct professional tax from employees’ salaries.
2. Professional Tax Enrollment Certificate (PTEC) is for individuals engaged in a profession and pay the tax directly to the Maharashtra government.

Features

The PT is a tax levied by the State government, and in Maharashtra, it is regulated under the Maharashtra State Tax. Although, there are some states in India where Professional tax is not applicable.
Registration can be done online by filling out relevant forms with the help of a tax consultant near you.
Within 30 days of submission of the application forms (form1), the individual becomes liable to pay the PT.
The application must be signed by the partners/ proprietors/ directors of the firm.

4. Employees Provident Fund

EPF is a retirement benefits scheme available to all individuals (employed in India) drawing a salary less than Rs.15000/-. It is the largest scheme in the world under which the employee and employer contribute a certain percentage of an employee’s salary in an EPF account, which is eventually withdrawn after retirement.

5. Employee State Insurance Scheme

ESI is a social security scheme for employees (private or government) drawing a salary of less than Rs.21000/-.

Features

It is managed and regulated by an autonomous regulatory body ESIC.
The employees and their dependents are eligible for medical disability, death or maternity benefits in ESI hospitals or referred registered hospitals.
It can be registered online, along with 6 months’ fees paid in advance.
The system then generates a registration letter C-11, received by the employer.
It contains a 17-digit registration number.
